About Breast Reduction
Large breasts can be the cause of pain, discomfort, and self-consciousness, but with a breast reduction in NYC, this does not have to be the case. This procedure can help give patients more proportional breasts and address the medical issues caused by oversized breasts. It is particularly beneficial thanks to the specialized Yin-Yang Technique created by Dr. Francesco Gargano.
What Is a Breast Reduction?
A breast reduction, also called reduction mammoplasty, is a procedure used to help patients who have breasts that are too large and heavy for their comfort or preference. The goal is to reduce the breasts to a more manageable size.
The procedure involves removing fat, excess skin, and glandular tissue from the breasts and then reshaping them to the patient’s preference. The areolae may also be resized and repositioned to best fit the breasts’ new dimensions.
Thanks to the Yin-Yang breast reduction technique pioneered by Dr. Gargano, the results are longer-lasting and the breasts’ new appearance is very natural. Dr. Gargano has already performed this technique for over one thousand cases.
Good Candidates for a Breast Reduction
Patients who are regularly inconvenienced by the size of their breasts are good candidates for a breast reduction procedure. When the breasts cause chronic neck, shoulder, or back pain, this can be an ideal solution. It can also help to address rashes beneath the breasts, painful bra-strap indentations, and posture issues.
Good candidates for reduction mammoplasty may also be experiencing social and emotional issues. Trouble performing physical activities like sports and exercise is another common problem for patients with oversized breasts.
Candidates should ideally be in good general health, have a positive outlook, and have realistic expectations. In order to promote faster recovery, patients must quit smoking in the weeks before their procedure. They may also need to avoid NSAIDs to reduce the chance of surgical complications.
The first step in getting lighter breasts that better fit one’s frame is scheduling a consultation with Dr. Gargano. This visit will allow patients to learn more information about the procedure and how they can best prepare for it. It will also allow Dr. Gargano to create a detailed surgical plan for the operation.
Dr. Gargano will ask about the patient’s goals for their breast reduction procedure. He will also ask about their medical history, including current medications and past surgeries, and perform a physical examination.
The surgeon will go over the details of the procedure, including recovery. Patients are encouraged to ask any questions they may have.
Breast Reduction Recovery and Healing
Following a successful breast reduction session, patients can expect some swelling, mild bruising, and minor discomfort. This will be in the early stages of the recovery process, where patients will be advised to sleep on their backs for the next few weeks. Patients should not participate in any strenuous activity or stressful event during this period.
How Much Does a Breast Reduction Cost?
There are several factors that can affect the cost of a breast reduction procedure. Factors that impact price may include the amount of tissue removed, the techniques used, and the total surgical time.
In some cases, health insurance may cover the cost of this procedure. Because of this, it will be best to contact your insurance provider to learn more.

Your Breast Reduction Session
A breast reduction session will start with administration of anesthesia to ensure patient comfort. Once it has taken effect, incisions will be made. Incision pattern is typically chosen based on the amount of tissue to be removed.
Dr. Gargano will then use the Yin-Yang Technique, creating an inferior-pole dermo-glandular flap to provide support to the lower pole. This technique will narrow the breast base while still preserving the mammary cone’s projection.
Once tissue has been removed, the remaining tissues have been reshaped, and the areolae have been resized/repositioned as needed, incisions will be closed using sutures.
Breast Reduction: The “Yin-Yang Technique”
Dr. Gargano is the inventor and pioneer of this new breast reduction technique. He has performed almost one thousand cases so far.
The Yin-Yang technique reduces the breast size and gives natural and long-lasting results. The Yin-Yang technique uses an inferior pole dermo-glandular flap to support the lower pole and narrow the breast base. Projection of the mammary cone is preserved.
